Our students face tremendous obstacles without access to services that make flourishing possible. We accompany them on a personal and relational level through chaotic circumstances, unexpected problems and difficult situations with no easy solutions. Improving the lives and prospects of underserved immigrant youth is not only humane, but smart. It can have enormous positive consequences in the lives of struggling youth by helping them become socially upwardly mobile, which can have a positive effect for their families and the community as a whole. SWOL’s programs draw high praise from school staff and families for its ability to improve prospects, performance, and attitudes of their most vulnerable students. We serve and partner with the following schools and organizations: KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy Seven Private Practice Attorneys SWOL serves underserved immigrant teens from low-income families who will be first-generation college students by bringing information and guidance to students within their schools. SWOL is dedicated to a personal and long-term relational approach to actively and effectively accompanying students out of poverty and struggle. Our mission is based on solidarity, rather than charity alone, and focused on keeping the most vulnerable in our community from falling through the cracks through information and guidance. SWOL’s Programs have featured a Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Gates Millennium Scholar, honor roll students in AP courses, and college students. Through after-school workshops, hundreds of students have received critical information about their immigration options, continuing their education, transportation, letters of recommendation, legal aid for parents, housing and other resources. We’ve received volumes of letters and positive feedback from students. The greatest indicator of our success with students is that we are always invited by schools to come back. Real-Life Stories
